Why Ongoing Education Isn’t Just Optional at Centreline Physio; It’s the Whole Point
One thing is clear in the physiotherapy industry: if you’re not learning, you’re falling behind.
At Centreline Physio, Sports & Wellness Inc. in Brantford, we don’t just talk about continuing education. We practice it. It’s how we operate, how we grow together as a team, and how we provide the best care possible to the people who visit us.
Here’s what that actually looks like...
Recently, our PT student Danielle gave a presentation on using the Flexicurve ruler to assess spinal curvature for osteoporosis. This simple but effective tool helps measure posture and spot changes in spinal alignment, which can significantly aid in managing bone health for older adults.
But the best part? Our clinic owner and lead physiotherapist Jackie was not just a passive observer, she actually got involved and applied what she had just learned in the moment. In front of our whole team, she used the Flexicurve ruler to assess our colleague Christina's posture, who gladly volunteered to take part. There was laughter, learning, and plenty of curiosity among everyone in the clinic. It turned a student-led presentation, that could've easily been practiced by Jackie only, into a hands-on moment everyone in the clinic could learn from. Even our high school co-op student, massage therapist and Communications Coordinator joined in to watch and learn.
This is what real-time education looks like. It’s not just theory; it’s ideas and tools put into action to improve future client care.
And it didn’t stop there...
In April 2025, our co-op Kinesiology student Celina led a Functional Movement Screening (FMS) workshop for the staff. She took us through a series of movement tests to assess our limitations in strength, mobility, and stability. Each movement was scored from 0 to 3, and even experienced physiotherapists like Thomas and Jackie found areas they could improve in. The goal was never perfection. It is about recognizing our own movement limitations so we can better support our patients in doing the same. The workshop reminded us that learning never stops, no matter how long you've been practicing in the field. There are always more possibilities for growth.
If you operate a clinic and aspire to improve outcomes and have a stronger team, here's the answer:
Invest in your people. Give your students chances to lead. Encourage practical application. Create an environment that is always curious and willing to share new findings.
Your clients will notice the difference!
