What’s a massage therapist?
Massage therapy is a form of manipulation used to treat the soft tissues of the body. This includes muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. As a clinically oriented healthcare option, massage therapy may help alleviate the discomfort associated with both acute and Chronic pain, muscular over-use, and Activities of daily living.

Am I covered?
RMTs work with a wide variety of patients in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation and disability, however it is important to note that Registered massage therapy is not covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). That being said Massage therapy may be covered fully, or in part by many extended health benefit plans. Also keep in mind although a referral or prescription is not required to visit an RMT, some insurance companies may require it.
Note: Some massage therapy may be reimbursed by automobile insurance companies, in the result of a motor vehicle accident, or by WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board) in the case of a workplace injury
